Fishing

A warm welcome to all fishermen, and women. SFCC fishing section caters for members, chiefly in boats, wishing to fish our local waters of Lyme Bay and South Devon areas.

Cruising

Welcome to the cruising section of The Starcross Fishing and Cruising Club. We like to encourage as many people as possible to enjoy cruising in our beautiful local waters, and extended areas.

Social Events

The Club organises a series of events throughout the year, ranging from Speciality Meals, Discos, BBQ’s, Bar Draws and impromptu ‘get togethers’, Annual Gala Night and Festive celebrations,

Membership

Here at SFCC we welcome new members to our club who are active in water based activities across the spectrum of boating pursuits. We regret that we are unable to provide purely social membership.

Training

SFCC is committed to member training and is a certified RYA Training Centre. Courses run include; Day Skipper, Yachtmaster, Essential Navigation, VHF, First Aid, Diesel Engine, and Powerboat 1 & 2.

Club Facilities

The club offers a range of 24/7 facilities to it’s members based around the historic Brunel Tower that dominates the shoreline at Starcross on the western side of the River Exe Estuary,

Social Events at  SFCC

The Club organises a series of events throughout the year, ranging from Speciality Meals, Discos, BBQ’s, Bar Draws and impromptu ‘get togethers’.  Towards the end of the year we hold our Annual Gala Night – a chance to dress up and get out of those deck shoes / wellies! …. and of course Christmas and New Year celebrations should not be missed.

We have two Skittles teams, (Men’s and Ladies), and play other riverside based clubs during the off season months.

A New Members evenings is arranged, generally in May (see link below for dates). All are welcome to come along on these nights to support New Members and meet the Flag Officers and Committee.

All events will be advertised within the Club and displayed on the club Facebook page.
A warm welcome is always extended to visitors with affiliation to RYA, Angling Trust, and any other fishing or cruising clubs.

The Club has a close relationship with the RNLI – particularly the Exmouth Lifeboat crew. A lot of our events are held to raise greatly needed funds for the RNLI, so please come along and give your support.

The Club-house is available for hire, but this has to be at the convenience of the Club and members. Please contact me through the club if you need any further information. Application forms are available from the bar. Do come along and meet us. We pride ourselves with being a friendly, fun-loving Club and you can be sure of a warm welcome.

Finally, we are always looking for new ideas, suggestions and help. If you feel you can help or have any suggestions on how we can better improve our social side of the Club, please contact us.

Tickets to the Club’s premier night of the year are now on
sale over the bar at £27.50 per person. Fancy dress is
optional, but everyone’s encouraged to get into the spirit
of this event, bring your favourite tankard or wine goblet
to drink from.
You’ll receive a free glass of mead to start the evening off.
The Medieval Menu will be served in the Brunel Banqueting Hall and will consist of the following:

 Medieval Banquet Menu

– Hot Meats (on and off the bone) – marinated sticky chicken wings, chicken drumsticks, crispy crackling pork belly pieces & Tomahawk steak
– Fancy sides – roasted vegetable pasta, red onion/tomato/feta salad, mixed leaves salad, crunchy coleslaw
– Potatoes – roasted (spicy), new potatoes, potato salad with chives
– Tear & Share rustic breads
– Summer fruits kebabs & natural yoghurt dip
– Cheese board – delicious local cheeses, grapes, figs & chutney

Vegetarian/Vegan alternatives upon request.

Friday Forums

Sharing expertise and experience amongst members

At SFCC we are friendly and informal. We also know that if you’re new to boating it’s often helpful to learn from people who are a bit more experienced. That’s why we hold Friday Forums throughout the winter (when we aren’t using our boats) to learn new methods or just hear a talk about an interesting topic.

The ‘closed season’ winter / spring programme of events for 2023, organised by Steve Cowell our Fishing Secretary, is now complete.
